Salam Wael,
You are one of the few muslim writers who say it as it is.. Yes muslims today are dealing with many unhappy realities. Most writers would ignore that reality and write their own fantasies about islam and the islamic world.. Islam is a wonderful religion that teaches love and compassion and undersatnding and forgiveness, yet those things are not seen in the islamic world where I live. Very often we see religious people who are so bitter. Many times i see people praying 5 times or more covered up or with a long beard and seldom smile! Whats that about? When I was living in the west i saw more smiles, and heaard more thank yous than i did back home. We muslims need to become more spiritual more in connection with Allah. Look at the west today with spiritual leaders like Dr. Wayne Dyer (and others) teaching how to connect to God and detach youself from worldly possessions ( all of this is in islamic teachings too). Then look at the bearded scholars on tv who tell you that your salat is not accepted beacuse you did not cover your feet! We need open mindedness. We need to learn islam the true islam. Islam does have all the answers.

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barikatu, my dearest brother in Islam:

I will try to keep this as simple as possible, because if I let myself go and say here everything that is in my heart, the words will never end.

YOU and your site have actually saved my life and my faith in Islam. I have been through many severe trials of late, was seriously depressed and suicidal, and believed I would never find a gentle, loving and forgiving God. I guess my upbringing as a devout Catholic, and then conversion to Islam (30 years ago) with training and lessons by those with a rather dour outlook and interpretation, drove me further and further away from Allah over the years.

But during my latest trial, believing there was no way out for me and only death would solve my problems, I found your site. Subhannah Allah, I was so close to the end---and Allah knows I had been begging Him for years for help in knowing Him---yet it wasnt until yesterday that He saw fit, in His infinite wisdom, to send me to your blog. Allah's time is perfect...perhaps this happened only when I was truly ready to absorb and benefit from this lesson.

In any case, may Allah reward you richly! I am publicizing your site on my FB page and to all my friends. Surely dear brother, Allah will bless you again and again for this marvelous sadiqqa jariyah! We Muslims definitely need what you wrote above:

"When brothers and sisters come to see their deen as a source of light, hope, inspiration, and strength, then everything changes. No longer do they imagine Allah as an angry, vengeful God waiting to blast them to bits."

BTW, I "used" to be a writer...ya Raab I will recover, with the help of Allah and your healing site, and think about writing again. I pray to contribute anything in return for your inspiration.

Wa alaikum salam wa rahmatullah!

Thanks very much for the offer Maria. Let me publish a book in English first, then we'll see about translating it, Insha'Allah.

Salam alaykum,

I think I´ve read quite a lot of your web, and if you want to write a book, I offer myself to translate it into spanish if you want.

What you have to say, I haven´t seen it in books, and it will be very helpful to muslims and not muslims.

Many people need to know Allah, but in a simple, easy, loving way as you reflect in your writings, ...

I´m not able to write the way you do, I´m extremely simple and I´m glad getting the essence, I go directly to the point, you can write pages and pages, I like it, I don´t have that quality.

Writting the way we do is a very vulnerable situation, everytime I write I feel like pouring out my Heart.

For the moment, this is going to be my last post here.

Wish you all the Best.

Gracias por todo, que Dios te bendiga.
