Poem: A Heart Like Ibrahim

Wolgan Valley Resort

Wolgan Valley, Australia

A new Muslim convert named Eya submitted this lovely poem:

A Heart Like Ibrahim

A Christian who becomes Muslim
Finds much work is needed
To have a heart like Ibrahim
Soon discover I will be tested.

Islam is new for me to learn;
However, I am up to the task.
As Islam is something I yearn
I wash & pray to Allah to ask.

I wish for much patience
With love and tender care;
While having much guidance
As one day I too will share.

    Majestically Magnificent

When I look at the sky
    As I’m feeling sad
    My emotions fade into
    The breathtaking moment

    Captured by the beauty
    That is above me
    Knowing of the all-loving
    And powerful Allah

    Mesmerized by pretty colours
    surrounded by shapes of clouds
    As the sun shining through
    The majestic blue sky

    Thankful the magnificent sky
    Is there for our enjoyment
    To take notice of only
    One creator named Allah

    Ramadan

In this month as we observe
    Ramadan in prayer and fasting
    Reading much to discern
    His written word is lasting

    Cleansing us from inside out
    To becoming purified once again
Forgiving our every sin to put out
To a start anew to begin

    The hunger and headaches
    Are for a short time
In remembrance to many whose aches
Are a constant reminder to this time

We thank God that we are selected
    With his gracious gift
I thank him for he elected
Me at my lowest to be uplift

    For the month seems long
Once it’s over ’twas quite short
    Many hours spent upon
    Thanking God for our Fort
